The Era of Local Production and Accessibility
Historically, the supply of pharmaceuticals in West Africa and Guinea in particular—has relied on foreign imports for more than 80% of its needs, exposing local populations to stock shortages and volatile pricing. To reverse this structural dependency, the Guinean government has placed "Made in Guinea" at the center of its healthcare roadmap.
The official inauguration of Odhav Pharma S.A. on Friday, June 12, 2026, located in the Gbéréyiré district (Tanènè, Dubréka Prefecture) in the presence of the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Madame Khaité Sall, crystallizes this ambition. This industrial complex is not a simple packaging workshop, but a heavy manufacturing plant engineered to supply the local market with premium-grade, affordably priced essential generic medicines.
The Growth Engine: Unrivaled Regional Technological Infrastructure
Odhav Pharma immediately sets the standard as Guinea's most advanced industrial tool in the medical sector, backed by massive capital investments and a cross-border workforce of 1,200 local staff managed by 300 international engineers. The production facility features three automated segments:
- High-Capacity Intravenous (IV) Solutions: Utilizing state-of-the-art Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) and Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) technologies, the plant outputs 100,000 infusion bottles per day (including Glucose 5% and Sodium Chloride 0.9%). The high-speed packaging line runs at 220 bottles per minute, featuring automated heat sterilization at 120°C to guarantee absolute clinical purity.
- Solid Oral Dosages (Tablets): A daily output capacity of 2 million tablets enables mass production of next-generation antimalarials (OP Palufen Pro), antibiotics (OP Metro 400), and heavy analgesics (OP Para-1000).
- Liquid Formulations (Syrups): 35,000 bottles per day of palatable pediatric and adult oral suspensions, including OP-CID antacids, OP-MVITA multivitamins, and OP-Tustril cough syrups.
The Compliance Challenge: Zero Compromise on International Standards To seamlessly export its products to 50 global markets and reassure local practitioners, Odhav Pharma’s management aligned its infrastructure with the world's most rigid regulatory frameworks: WHO-GMP, USFDA, MHRA, cGMP, and GLP guidelines.
Architecturally, the Dubréka plant eliminates all risks of cross-contamination. It features an infrastructure entirely free of wood or asbestos, strict geographic zoning, and independent Air Handling Units (AHUs) equipped with 3-micron dust extraction filtration systems for each production department. Its industrial water process runs on a high-grade Duo Pass Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant. Furthermore, to fully isolate sensitive molecules, isolated production units were built exclusively for β-Lactam and Cephalosporin forms.
The Pioneers: Direct Impact on National Health Security
Beyond the technical prowess and its $150+ million global turnover, the establishment of Odhav Pharma S.A. redefines the healthcare ecosystem in Guinea. By engineering direct supply channels between domestic pharmaceutical importers and this local manufacturing unit, Minister Khaité Sall aims to drastically reduce the retail cost of medicine. The facility's on-site R&D center is already plotting future growth, with planned expansions into pre-filled syringes, nasal sprays, ophthalmic eye drops, and soft gel capsules.
